Students at Stanford work to exercise their empathy muscle…do you?

In this terrific NYT article about Stanford’s D-School you get an idea of how the design centers around user centered iterative design.  Often students at Hostos’ Media Design Programs ask why we require them to revisit and rework their designs.  “Why,” they moan, “must we do another usability test?”  The heart of design, as this article shows, is in understanding the target audience…to understand how they interact with THEIR world, and to develop design that fits them and their lives.
