THE GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM

This annual award program is aimed at increasing the number of African-Americans,
American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Americans, and Hispanic Americans enrolling in and completing undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The Gates Millennium Scholars award enables young Americans to attend undergraduate and graduate institutions of their choice.
 
In addition to increasing access to higher education for these underrepresented groups, GMS also provides leadership training. Eligible students must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American; citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States; have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.00 scale (unweighted) at the time of nomination; entering a U.S. accredited college or university as full-time, degree-seeking first-year student; eligible for a Federal Pell Grant; have completed and submitted all three required forms:
the student’s application (Nominee Personal Information Form)
an evaluation of the student’s academic record (Nominator Form) and an evaluation of the student’s community service and leadership activities
(Recommender Form)
 
by the deadline: January 15, 11:59pm.
 
Funding amount: 1000 individual awards for tuition, fees, books, and living expenses.
