EdTech introduces faculty to the latest educational technologies. In an evolving and changing technoscape, innovative trends in online learning, rich media, social networking, mobile learning and virtual and augmented reality offer opportunities to engage students. EdTech provides continuous faculty development opportunities throughout the academic year to reach these goals.

EdTech’s instructional designers are always happy to share their knowledge and expertise in the field of educational technology. The Faculty Learning Commons, C-559, is equipped with a Smart Board, wireless laptops and multimedia tools. Trained staff are ready to answer all questions from faculty.

Our Mission

The Office of Educational Technology (EdTech) develops, implements, supports, and promotes innovative integration of technology into teaching and learning by empowering faculty, serving students, and creating a supportive environment for all types of learners.

EdTech’s strategic pathway includes:

  • Assisting faculty in the integration of technology in their pedagogical models;
  • Forging partnerships in the research and development of educational technologies;
  • Supporting students in the acquisition of technology skills;
  • Exploring new and emerging educational technologies;
  • Building partnerships across disciplines and departments to create innovative initiatives.

Wilfredo Rodriguez

Coordinator of EdTech

Wilfredo Rodríguez, has been Office of Educational Technology Coordinator since April 2012.  He oversees the daily operations of the office by ensuring that all academic year goals are clearly delineated, accomplished and exceeded according to the Academic Year Plan, and is responsible for supervising and implementing a great variety of projects.  Wilfredo has attended numerous managerial trainings to further improve his productivity and supervisory skills.  He began as an administrative assistant in 2004 for the Title V Grant under Prof. Kim Sanabria as Principal Investigator.  When the grant expired, he moved to the Office of Academic Affairs as a HEO taking on a variety of responsibilities.  He holds a M.S. and B.S. in Computer Science from Lehman College.

Eric Ritholz

Eric Ritholz, B.A., M.A., M.A.
Coordinator of Online Learning

Eric Ritholz has been the Online Learning Coordinator for the Office of Educational Technology since May of 2018.  He holds graduate degrees from the University of Central Oklahoma and Undergraduate from StonyBrook University as well as several certifications in instructional design, curriculum development and online pedagogy.  For 22 years he had the roles of visiting professor, program director, and course advisor at many universities around the world.  He has recently completed the third revision of the protocols for online course certification and online faculty certification at Hostos.

David dos Santos has been serving Hostos Community College as an Instructional Designer since 2016 and has over a decade of experience with educational technology at CUNY.  David is the Digication ePortfolio Administrator and an administrator for the Hostos Commons. David holds a B.A. In Media Studies from Hunter College

Danny Wu is currently a programmer and instructional designer for the Office of Education Technology since April of 2018. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from New York University Tandon School of Engineering. He recently developed the “Online Course Evaluation System” to streamline the development of online courses at Hostos.

Catherine Man

Catherine Man, B.A, M.A.
Instructional Designer

Catherine Man is an instructional designer with extensive experience in website design. She has a MA in Instructional Technology and Media from Teachers College at Columbia University, as well as a BA from Barnard College. Prior to joining the EdTech team, she was a researcher and program evaluator in the public school sector. In addition to supporting Hostos faculty with developing courses through the Online Initiative, she is primarily responsible for updating the Online Learning website.
