The Committee on Academic Computing was established in the fall of 1994 and directed to serve as an advisory body to the Vice President of Academic Affairs in matters that relate to instructional technology. The membership consists of a faculty representative from each of the academic departments, including the Library and Counseling. For over a decade the Committee on Academic Computing was chaired by the Director of the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT), and served as an effective vehicle to maintain an active and vital avenue of communication between the faculty and Office of Academic Affairs concerning issues within its purview.
In 2011 the position of Faculty Liaison to the Office of Instructional Technology was created, and the Office of Instructional Technology (OIT) was renamed the Office of Educational Technology. At this point, the positions of Chair of CAC (now the Educational Technology Leadership Council), and Director of the EdTech Office, separated. Prof. Lyons is the Chair of the Educational Technology Leadership Council (the primary role of the Faculty Liaison to EdTech), and the Director of the EdTech Office has not yet been named.
