ADVANCED BRIGHTSPACE GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY
Question Pools
A question pool in Brightspace is a collection of questions from which the system draws questions randomly reducing their predictability. A quiz, on the other hand, is the assessment that students take, which can include questions from one or more of these pools.
Question pools are stored in the Question Library and, unless included in a quiz, they are not automatically available to students. In Brightspace, folders used to organize questions in the library are called sections. Each question pool should contain questions of a consistent difficulty level and focus on a specific key concept, reflected in the pool title. For example, a question pool titled ‘Water Pollution – Intermediate’ can contain 20 questions about that topic. Another pool may be Climate Change – Advanced, etc. It is recommended that each pool include more questions than will be delivered in the quiz to ensure variety and uphold academic integrity.
