“Research model programs that support faculty and staff organizational / community leadership development for different cohorts – by experience level (new to seasoned), by area of expertise, by role, etc.” (Strategic Plan, p. 17)
Many programs were reviewed via online websites, published articles and conference materials. It is noteworthy to recognize that the majority of organizational development programs, available for review, mostly reside in large four-year institutions of higher education. It is also noteworthy to mention that these programs employ program leaders and managers and operate with supportive staff. Because of this, the research for this strategic goal/initiative was used to draft four faculty leadership competencies: Communication, strategic thinking and leading, emotional intelligence and problem solving, and management. Aside from being well-developed model programs, the most useful materials for developing the leadership competencies came from:
- Michigan State University – Office of Faculty and Organizational Development
- University of California at Los Angeles – Office of Human Resources Management Skills Assessment Programs Core Competencies
