I CAN’T BREATHE

I can’t breathe

I can’t breathe

I am an actual human being, I am not an android

My name is Eric Gardener or is it George Floyd

Are you stone deaf?

Can’t you see I am entering the door of death

Who made you the king of the earth?

For you to decide what my life is worth

It is worth more than loose cigarettes and a twenty-dollar bill?

Does my color cause you to mold a mountain out of a mole-hill?

Is there a single moral cell your body?

That would allow you to save my humanity

I am looking toward heaven and God’s grace

For your act of modern-day lynching what will you face?

Here in this moment your power you flaunt

But at nights this moment and my image will haunt

When did neck restraint become standard instead of just the hands?

You have now become a member of a murderous band

I am an actual human being and I am not an android

My name is Eric Gardener or is it George Floyd

I can’t breathe

I can’t breathe.
