In this podcast, Professor Cynthia Jones discusses an activity that helps students engage with new material. In her example, Professor Jones talks about a series of exercises related to writing about a spider and a wasp. This activity has three parts. First, students write about their personal experiences related to a specific topic. Second, the students are asked to list the facts they know about that topic. Third, students write about any questions or concerns they would have if registered for a class on the subject.
