Planning for Revision: Using journals, mashups, discussion boards, and student reflections to support formal papers
Presenter:
Chuck Wooldridge, Assistant Professor, History, Lehman
Abstract:
This presentation will discuss ways that low-stakes assignÂments in an online environment can promote meaningful revision of student writing. Online courses can be particuÂlarly effective in encouraging students to see revision as a process of rethinking a topic, rather than one of mere correction. In particular, online classes make it easier (albeit with careful planning) to use low-stakes assignments to promote revision in high-stakes assignments.
