Virtual
Commons In A Box OpenLab (https://cboxopenlab.org/) is free, open source software that enables anyone to launch a commons for open learning. Built here at CUNY using WordPress and BuddyPress, it provides powerful open infrastructure for innovation and collaboration, helping students, faculty, and staff work together beyond the classroom and across institutional boundaries, sharing their creativity with one another and the world. There are vibrant OpenLabs at City Tech and BMCC ), and SPS is preparing to launch an OpenLab focused on student community‐building. In a lively virtual presentation, team members from City Tech, BMCC, and SPS will discuss examples that demonstrate how CBOX OpenLab can be used to advance open pedagogies, open educational resources, internships, portfolios, co‐curricular activities, and other active learning practices that promote student engagement and success. We will show how participation in the project has driven innovation and collaboration not only at our institutions but also among our teams, who share best practices and lessons learned, and partner to develop new features.
