Concept Mapping in Clinical

Abstract:
Faculty needs to prepare students to work in a continuously changing health care system. Nursing faculty are tasked with engaging student’s learning abilities; consquently, many pedagogies have been enacted to assist faculty and students in teaching and learning. Concept mapping offers a different method for teaching and learning. This presenter describes and discuss his experiences with implementing concept mapping into an evening medical surgical clinical nursing course at a community college. A template and various student’s concept maps will be previewed. Also a rubric for evaluating these concept maps will be discussed.
