Abstract:

This presentation will explore the advantages and disadvantages of reading academic material on a screen in college courses. I will also examine pedagogical theories of how students read online material. I will briefly demonstrate my experience of using an online, interactive textbook as an instructor, and the ideas that undergird their usage. I will consider how reading on a screen can affect student engagement and learning.
