Highlights of the AHS Retention Committee

Charles Drago, Professor
Allied Health Sciences

Thanks to the financial support from the “Here to Here Foundation”, the Allied Health Science (AHS) Retention Committee is continuing their work. The committee has been busy over the last academic year and has held several events to retain students who have come to Hostos hoping to become a Nurse, Dental Hygienist, or Radiologic Technologist.

The AHS Retention Committee has hosted several open houses and discussion panels informing students of choices they have in majors at Hostos and in career paths in healthcare.  Aging and Health Studies, Community Health, Food Studies, Continuing Education, and the Career Services Office have collaborated with Allied Health to expand options and redirect students.

In the coming academic year 2019-2020, the AHS Retention Committee will develop informative materials which will be available to all students at Hostos Community College. The committee will offer additional discussion panels featuring Hostos alumni this spring. We look forward to a productive semester and thank the Here to Here Foundation for their support.
