The Hostos Joint Dual Engineering Degree Program with The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering student Oluwafemi Ligan has been selected as 2018 Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) Scholar. The highly competitive SCI Program provides its scholars with industry summer internship experience during 10 weeks with stipend.

“This award is a new beginning for my career path as a future Chemical Engineer. I want to work after I earn my degree as a Chemical Engineer in a petrochemical industry. That’s why I chose Exxon Mobil as my first company choice,” said Ligan.

“Through this award, I will encourage everyone to believe in their different dreams and work hard for it, because hard work always pays off.  Never fear to apply for all the opportunities that are offered to you as we never know which work out for our career,” said Ligan.

Ligan will be intern at ExxonMobil Chemical Company (Baton Rouge, LA) during the summer of 2018. Exxon Mobil is the world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company and one of her dream one to work at. “A summer internship in this company will not only allow me to apply my classroom knowledge and build up experience in a real work environment, but also will be valuable for my future career as an engineer,” said Ligan.
