I am very pleased to announce that Hostos students and members of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) Willy Baez and Madieng Diao won the 1st -place prize in the “Technology and Mathematics” category at the 25th Annual CSTEP Statewide Student Conference, during the weekend of April 8 at the Sagamore Resort on Lake George, Bolton Landing, NY. The conference was attended by 550 students, 200 administrators and professionals from over 40 institutions of higher education in New York State.
Specifically, the research team composed of Mr. Willy Baez and Mr. Madieng Diao, mentored by Professor Alexander Vaninsky from the Mathematics Department, investigated the topic “Experiments with Finding Potential Function by Simultaneous Integration of Partial Differentials”.
Other Hostos students who attended the conference were Analilia Mendez, Mohosina Islam, Jenifer Vivar, Oluwafemi Ligan, Juanny Nunez , Arly Wispe, Christian Huacon, Seydou Konate, Nyomor-Da Tackie-Yarboi, Khalid Nairbourhim, Abraham Ferrera, Teewendee Kisbedo, Mohamadou Ouaba, Ramah Sharaf among which all poster presenters received medals for participation in the poster and oral presentations. I would like to thank faculty mentors from the Mathematics and Natural Sciences Departments as well as CSTEP staff for their overall support to our students.
