Sherese Mitchell
As a member at large for the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs (NACCTEP). I contribute multiple hours to the Association to ensure that the collective voice for community college teacher education programs is being heard across the country. We serve in multiple capacities throughout the year, but this year the board spent numerous hours, to research, edit, and design our soon-to-be-released Blueprint for Excellence. The board’s work on this project provides a template by which individual colleges can evaluate and assess the effectiveness of their programs and ensure consistency of practice, student support services, and cost-effective, flexible program models that will assist in increasing the diversity of our teacher education pipeline. In addition, I participate on monthly board conference calls, submitted a newsletter article, and attend annual board meetings with national educational partners and policy makers to learn more about important issues relevant to teacher education.
