On Tuesday February 25, 2015 at 1:30 pm, the Engineering Program held its spring 2015 Engineering Orientation Day; a full-house event. About 50 participants among students, engineering faculty advisors and staff attended the event. Engineering students were informed about the Joint Dual Engineering Degree Program with The City College of New York’s Grove School of Engineering (CCNY’s GSoE) of CUNY, which currently offers five different programs: Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering. The students were also advised about the requirements necessary to remain in the program and the admission criteria to transfer to City College’s Graduate School of Education after successful completion of the A.S. in Engineering at Hostos. The ePermits and transfer application were discussed too. We were honored by the presence of the Associate Dean Ardie Walser, Assistant Dean Rawlins Beharry, and Ms. Jasmine Gonzalez, the Joint Dual Engineering Degree Program liaison from City College. In addition, the Associate Dean Felix Cardona and the Executive Associate to Provost Ms. Sarah Brennan represented our Academic Affairs Office. The students were engaged by moving speeches given by our counterparts at CCNY and by an interactive presentation made by the Hostos program coordinators Professor Yoel Rodríguez and Advising Coordinator Ms. Karla Contreras.
