The Information Learning Commons (ILC) Committee has established the “Hostos Student Technology Boot Camp,” an initiative to infuse technology skills through project-based, team and leadership building activities focused on student life, social engagement, and community service.
Students will work in teams of five (5) to develop a final project (video) that addresses a particular theme provided to them focused on student life, social engagement, and community service. The teams will explore how educational technology, information security, information literacy, mobile computing or other related technology and student services areas will help to present a solution for a particular issue faced by the student community. Additionally, students will create their ePortfolios to establish their digital identity, and showcase their final project and their experience throughout this process.
A cohort of 30 students will be accepted to participate. Application closes on Friday, February 27th, 2015. To learn about the requirements to be part of this program go to the Application page
All selected participants will receive a Polo t-shirt branded with the “Tech Leader Boot camp Survivor,” and other surprises. Additionally, each member from the top 3 teams from the final presentation awards will receive the following:
- First Place: Microsoft Surface Pro 3 64GB + type keyboard
- Second Place: ASUS Flip TP500LA 15.6″ touch laptop
- Third Place: Apple iPad Mini 3 16GB
