The Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs has implemented this monthly newsletter as a means of communication. The Academic Scoop is designed to spotlight approaches to pedagogy, faculty research and service and showcase scholarly achievements, outcomes from academic programming, and proceedings of special initiatives. We encourage all of our readers to consider the Scoop as a venue for sharing  their professional journey with the broader community of educators at Hostos. Since 2015, the Academic Scoop has been a tool used to raise awareness of the commendable work happening within Academic Affairs and we hope that you’ll love reading about your colleagues’ work. We invite each of you to tour this blog site where all Scoop articles are archived and if you have ideas for contributions, we invite you to contact us in the Office of Academic Affairs.

CHALK TALK

The Chalk Talk tab showcases stories written by faculty about teaching and learning. Chalk Talk is a column envisioned by Provost Mangino which supports the vision of having faculty across the departments implement the most effective teaching practices possible. Chalk Talk columnists share teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches that improve student outcomes. If you would like to contribute to the Chalk Talk column, please see Submission Information in the last column on the right side of this page.

AWARDS

Our outstanding faculty and staff continue to engage in their work at Hostos and beyond with excellence. They are publishing, presenting, serving on boards, and receiving recognition. The Awards tab provides access to stories written by or about your colleagues who have been awarded with honors and achievement awards.
