Adjunct Assistant Professor, Humanities Department
- Research Interests
We experience sound in our daily life, both in a conscious and unconscious way. We listen to music, we hear birds singing, or the multiple sounds of the city. We are surrounded by aural stimuli that affects our day knowingly or unknowingly. Yet, often times we are not aware of it. When asked to describe what we hear, we may lack the vocabulary to describe the sounds with accuracy. And when we go deeper into music, or organized sound systems, the vocabulary falls even shorter. This is so that I have an interest for what the best entry point to learn music is. This interest serves as a framework for my teaching and pedagogical research into best practices to motivate students to experience and learn the language of music.
Sound is an essential component of every musical work, but to find the sound that moves us implies a search until that encounter happens. My creative work, my scholarly interest on music, and my teaching and pedagogical research are all fueled by the same desire: a search for what moves us, and what motivates us to explore and learn.
